Batman: The Animated Series Coming To Blu-Ray

Not many TV shos are able to live-up to the standard of Batman: The Animated Series. The show's versions of several characters have turned out to be so iconic, what with Mark Hamill's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman. As it turns out, WB is planning to release the show on Blu-Ray next year.

This was confirmed at a panel at the NYCC:

By the time the series re-releases next year, Bruce Timm's Batman would have already reached 26 years. A lot of people would say that Batman was the foundation for the entire DC Animated Universe, leading up to gems like Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, and Superman: The Animated Series.

As a fan, I'm just a bit wary about seeing the old animation getting released in such high-definition. With nostalgia usually leading to fans misremembering things, it's very likely that an old animated series from the 90s won't live-up to expectations. Then again, this is one of the best Batman shows out there. Even Adam West's kooky version of Batman still has its fans.

As of now, it looks like we still have no official release date for the Blu-Ray, but hopefully we get some updates as the year trudges along.
