Batman Movie May be in Danger of Ben Affleck’s Possible Quitting

The standalone Batman movie has had quite the trippy ride. While it has been the word of mouth ever since Batman v Superman was released—for both good and bad reasons—the one thing that has always been certain was Ben Affleck's presence in the movie.

Before, it had been quite a jampacked role, as he was set to direct, write, and star in the movie. But now, it seems that the actor has been having his own doubts about the movie, so much so that he not only confirmedly stepped down as director, but rumored to be thinking about getting out of the titular role.

Granted, this should be taken with a grain of salt since nothing has been confirmed. However, in Collider Movie Talk, John Campea had revealed some alarming news that he had gotten from three sources who are reportedly all connected with the franchise in a way.

Seen in the video (at exactly the 17.40 mark), he talks about how his info gathering results, which point to talks in the studio about Affleck's own wishes. According to his story, he has talked to three sources and they did not talk about the recent rumors about the new director or the new script, but rather Affleck is

"They're telling me that, Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. He doesn't want to be Batman anymore… I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. If they do not let him out of being Batman, that the standalone Batman film that ultimately happens, will be the last time we see Affleck as Batman, because he apparently wants out."

Granted, Campea also says in his video that this shouldn't be shared around, so again, it's best to reiterate that none of this has been proven until now. He also pointed out the different times that he has been burned by these leaks, so this should be the background we're operating with.

However, Movie Web does point back to an earlier story in January, wherein his wanting to get out of the role had been aired. Credibility-wise, this doesn't really affirm anything, but it does throw in a lot of weight in as far as what may be happening within the studio.

While Batman continues to be up in the air, this year will see two DC films, Wonder Woman on June 2 and Justice League on Nov. 16.
