Batman Movie May Feature Andy Serkis

There hasn't been a lot of movement with DC Comics' The Batman movie ever since Ben Affleck's departure as the director and Matt Reeves' arrival as the new one. The only other thing we've been hearing is a teaser from Josh Gad, who has been alluding to play The Penguin in the movie.

However, Screenrant spotted a new tweet from the director, which may be hinting at a role for Andy Serkis. Without giving any other detail or even direct hint to The Batman movie except by answering a fan query, Reeves mentioned that Serkis could have a role in anything he wanted—and yes, quite possibly in that movie:

For those who are not familiar with Serkis, he's known to play Smeagol a.k.a. Gollum. Just recently, he's also part of War for the Planet of the Apes, which Reeves had also directed.

Of course, the hint is far from any confirmation that Serkis will be in the movie. But it does give some fan hope. I personally am wondering how this will work, seeing as how Serkis already has a role in Marvel's cinematic universe. He first appeared in Avengers; The Age of Ultron where he played Ulysses Klaw. While we don't know if he will have a major role in Black Panther, it may be odd to have him in two separate universes with different characters, but we'll see.

The Batman doesn't have any specific dates for production yet, but it's expected to join the DCEU lineup of movies.
