Batman Cosplay Breaks the Guinness World Record

A Batman cosplay suit has broken a Guinness World Record for most functioning gadgets in a cosplay costume, The Rolling Stone reports. The suit was created by a special creature effects expert from Ireland named Jillian Checkley. It is based on Batman's suit in the Batman: Arkham Origins video game.

The suit has 23 functioning gadgets, including a grappling gun, a Bat-signal projector and smoke bombs. Other features of the suit include: video screens on the gauntlets, a fireball shooter, a folding batarang, a Bat tracking device, a ultrasonic device that repels dogs, a cowl respirator, a tranquilizer gun, bat-shaped shuriken, a UV lamp, a gauntlet flashlight. ball-bearing grenades, a medical kit, abattery pack, bat-camer, a laser designater, a strobe stun gun, a gas dispenser, a bat-flask, a concealed throat microphone and a two-way radio.

This impressive array of technology earned the costume a spot in The Guinness Book of World Records 2017 Gamer's Edition. A video was released where Checkley went through how he created the costume, revealing that ir was partially constructed through 3-D printing and that he hired an electrical engineer for the stun-gun. You can see it below:

Checkley was previously in the film industry. His first cosplay was a paper-mache Darth Vader costume he made when he wa seven. On Batman, Checkley says, "I've always been a Batman fan. He's kind of anti-hero, kind of dark, but he's still a good guy."

The Guinness Book of World Records 2017 Gamers Edition will be out on September 8th.

I think this cosplay is an amazing feat, though it definitely would be allowed at conventions. What do you think?
