Batgirl Movie Recruits Bumblebee Writer

It looks like the upcoming Batgirl film is no longer in development hell. Things were looking bad when Joss Whedon was dropped from the project, with reports claiming that DC wanted to have more female talent work on the film, though Whedon himself stated that it was because he could not come up with a proper story.

The executives from Warner Bros. may have gotten their wish now that Christina Hodson has been hired to write the film. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Hodson will write the script for the DC film.

Hodson worked on the Bumblebee spinoff, which seems to be shaping up nicely, especially since we don't have Michael Bay directing it. With reports claiming that it will feel different from Bay's Transformers movies, Hodson looks to be a good choice to work on Batgirl.

Other female writers had volunteered to work on the film, such as Roxane Gay who Michele Wells actually responded to. Gail Simone also showed interest in writing the character's film origins.

Batgirl has no release date.
