A Batarang epidemic is happening in airports and the Transportation Security Association is not happy about it, says The Hollywood Reporter. Batarangs are the bat-shaped boomerang-like weapon used by Batman. Last week at the San Francisco airport, a passenger tried to take three batarangs on an airplane with them, only to be caught by security.
The TSA posted a picture of these items on Instagram and reminded the internet that weapons are not allowed on airplanes. "Passengers are not allowed to bring anything on a plane that resembles a weapon, so anything like a boomerang or anything like that would not be permitted in the airplane cabin," said TSA spokesman Mike England, You can see the Instagram post below:
People packing Batarangs in their carry-on luggage has been an issue since at least January, when the TSA made a post about an incident in Salt Lake City International Airport. "Batarangs are becoming more and more common and it's important that you know they're prohibited in carry-on bags. They can be placed in your checked baggage along with your grapple gun, bat-saw, collapsible bat-sword, and other utility belt items," the TSA stated.
It honestly should be common sense not to take weapons onto an airplane, no matter how Batman-approved they are. But people will try to sneak weird things in all the time. What do you think of this Batarang problem?
