Avengers: Infinity War Will Have Plenty of Deleted Scenes

Calling Avengers: Infinity War big is an understatement. This isn't just the biggest film from Marvel but the biggest superhero movie ever. Period. With a huge cast and plenty of stories to wrap up, it's easy to assume that a number of scenes won't be making the final cut. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have confirmed this to be true.

Speaking with Digital Spy, Joe Russo confirmed that there would be plenty of deleted scenes, definitely more than what Winter Soldier and Civil War offered. Russo stated that both of those films had tight scripts that didn't really allow for anything important to be cut, though that won't be the same for Infinity War, given its scope.

"We were very tight with the scripts on Winter Soldier and Civil War, so there weren't a lot of extras. This is a very big movie with a lot of characters in it, and we played around with a lot of improvisation, because we had new chemistry that we were defining between characters. It was the first time ever that all these characters were on screen together, so we played around with quite a bit of footage, and I think there will be some good stuff for the DVD."

Having all of The Avengers was already pretty tricky, so adding Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange can only lead to messy things. Add the main baddie Thanos and his Black Order (plus Loki), there's no doubt that everyone won't be getting special screen time. Still, it should make whatever deleted scenes there is fun to watch, especially with the improv mentioned.

Avengers: Infinity War is slated for an April 27 release. The sequel comes out on May 3, 2019.
