Avengers: Infinity War Has Become Hollywood’s Highest-Grossing Superhero Film

Thanos has finally done it. Marvel's latest comic book movie, Avengers: Infinity War, has topped all of its predecessors from Marvel and DC to become the highest-grossing superhero movie in Hollywood history.

Though the film was already on the track towards unprecedented comic book movie commercial success, it's exciting to hear the news that Infinity War's moved past another massive milestone in its theatrical run.

The first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie has just bested its predecessors at the domestic box office, moving past The Dark Knight on Box Office Mojo's list of Worldwide Grosses. It's also moved past the very first Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther – three other Marvel films that have taken up spots in the site's list of top earning films in the global film market.

That's not the only record that Infinity War's broken. Not only did the film's opening weekend beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the domestic box office, the film's premiere weekend also sped past The Fate of the Furious. The film also became the fastest movie to reach the $1 billion mark, outperforming the mega-hit, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Now in the middle of its third week, fans expect Infinity War to break even more records as it continues its theatrical run in cinemas.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
