Avengers: Infinity War Directors Tease High Cost of Undoing Thanos' Actions

The ending of Avengers: Infinity War continues to be felt amongst the fans who witnessed the epic crossover film. While many had predicted that Thanos would get his hands on the Infinity Stones, seeing half of the universe get erased was still shocking, especially when it took heroes like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

With many of the disappearing heroes slated for future films, fans are already predicting that the unnamed Avengers 4 will dive into that particular mess. It won't be a simple solution for our heroes, however, as The Russo Brothers have teased that there will be a high cost for undoing everything Thanos did.

Speaking with Variety, The Russos discussed wanting to push these characters to their limits, as seen in their previous MCU movies Captain America: Winter Soldier and Civil War respectively. This is why they wanted Infinity War to have high stakes in it, so that audiences could be invested in what the future holds for these characters.

Here's what Joe and Anthony Russo had to say about possibly undoing everything Thanos has done:

Anthony:"I will say this: There is a real commitment on our end to the stakes. "Yes, this is a fantasy world, and yes, remarkable things can happen in a fantasy world, but-"

Joe:"They come at an incredibly high cost. For us, there will always be stakes and the stakes have been progressing from film to film. And I think you can extrapolate that they will continue to deepen in ‘Avengers 4.'"

Just reviving all of these characters would feel cheap, something that Marvel and DC have done too much of in their comic books. We can probably expect something important in return, which might actually lead to the exits of some MCU veterans, particularly Chris Evans.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters. Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
