Avengers 4: The Russos Comment on Confirmed Sequels for 'Dead' Characters

Avengers 4 continues to be a mystery amongst MCU fans, though we do know that it will take place after the events of Infinity War. Fans are certain that the characters Thanos wiped out with his finger snap will be brought back but they don't know how. Why are fans so confident? Because Marvel announced some of the sequels ahead of time, like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.

The Russo Brothers are trying to downplay that by telling fans these confirmed sequels don't mean any of the characters are getting resurrected. It's not working but you have to give them credit for trying.

Speaking with The Huffington Post, the directing duo stated that MCU fans are too used to time moving in a linear manner and insist that some of these sequels could take place before Infinity War.

"Here's the thing, I think it's important to remember anything is possible in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe]. Just because there's a sequel on the books doesn't mean ... people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the MCU. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case. There's a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go from here."

Apparently, a lot of time has passed since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Infinity War so there's a lot of Guardians stories that can be told in that timeline.

"That's a long time, and a lot of ‘Guardians' stories to tell. Again, as Anthony said, don't expect everything to move forward in a linear fashion in the Marvel universe."

Unfortunately for them, it was confirmed some time ago that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 would be set after Avengers 4. Moving forward, Marvel Studios will have to find a way to advertise their films without spoiling them in the future.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
