At Least 20 New Star Wars Books To Be Released This Year

If you're hoping to find out what Luke, Leia, and Han have been up to for the past three decades between Return of the Jedi and J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens, you'd proably want to read the upcoming Star Wars books that will be released this year.

EW reports that at least 20 new Star Wars books —from novels for adults and teens to storybooks and stickerbooks for children—will be released this Fall to tell what happened in the galaxy far far away between 1983's Return of the Jedi and this December's The Force Awakens.

Disney Publishing and Lucasfilm are confirming that the books will include Easter Eggs foreshadowing events in The Force Awakens.

These upcoming books will be official to the canon unlike the existing novels, comics, short stories, and video games explored in the so-called "Expanded Universe" that were discarded from the official storyline last April.

This new series from multiple publishers will be called Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The series' development required a society of authors to come together with another hugh-hush society of screenwriters.

"The Force Awakens is an extraordinarily, heavily guarded storyline. To track it, a lot of top-secret meetings were happening up in San Francisco as we worked through this program," says Andrew Sugerman, executive vice president of Disney Publishing Worldwide. Are you looking forward to read these Star Wars books?
