Assassination Classroom Spinoff Manga to Become Anime Series

The latest movie Assassination Classroom: 365 Days may have been a recap feature for all its worth, but apparently, fans can still catch something new for the franchise.

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump (via Anime News Network) announced that he ongoing spinoff manga, Koro-sensei Quest! will get its own anime series.

The spinoff already has material spanning way back in 2015 when it was first drawn by Watanabe and Aoto.

Even if we'll be seeing some familiar faces and tentacles, don't expect them to be a continuation of the original manga. Apparently, for the spinoff, we'll see Koro-sensei as a demon king with the entire world transformed far outside the original classroom setting.

It kind of reminds me of how the creators of Attack on Titan tried to expand the franchise while we're still waiting for the second season. Shingeki no Kyojin Chuugakkou is a chibi classroom setting take on the otherwise bloody and bloody serious original manga and anime.

Admittedly, it's hard to extend a series that has ultimately killed off its main character. And in this case, I became a real fan of the series when they pushed through with the hard decision to kill their teacher. Because after all, when you've built an entire three seasons' worth of the show around the goal of killing the teacher and not deliver the punchline at the end, it loses its core's value.

Assassination Classroom: 365 Days is still worth catching, if only to see some original material that involves best buddies Karma and Nagisa.

The Assassination Classroom anime spinoff will consist of 12 episodes that only run for 10-minute episodes.
