Aquaman Wields a Sword in New BTS Training Video

The King of Atlantis has always appeared with his trident at the ready. In James Wan's film, however, we might see a different kind of fighting for actor Jason Momoa.

87eleven Action Design has released a short Instagram clip featuring a behind-the-scenes look at Momoa in some sword training action. Seen below, we see a sequence of coordinated choreography, wherein Momoa seems to be facing off against two sword fighters in a potential fight scene.

"Jason Momoa working on his Sword skills for Aquaman at 87Eleven before heading out for Australia shoot. Modern Day Savage."

Since the post specifically mentions "sword skills," fans have started to wonder whether this means that the Aquaman story will see a time wherein the King of Atlantis does not wield the trident yet.

He's not the only one to start training for Aquaman. Just recently, we've seen Amber Heard in a similar short clip in a training session for her upcoming role as Queen Mera. Will Aquaman feature heavily on fight scenes? And who's excited?

I'd want to see Momoa do his own fight scenes himself in Aquaman, if only to make it even more badass. He's been doing some serious training anyway, and let's face it, he's the big badass hero we've all been waiting for.

It's almost natural to watch Momoa in the action scene—I mean, Conan the Barbarian aside, we've also seen him trade some mad fight sequences as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Even if that fight scene was the first step towards his death.

Aquaman will be out in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018.
