Ant-Man and the Wasp Gets an Infinity War-type Poster

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the next film in the MCU slate, and with the release less than a month away, Marvel Studios is steadily pumping out some promo material for the movie. The latest thing we have is a symmetrical poster in the vein of Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.

Though I don't think the poster looks bad at all, I think it's becoming a weird trend for Marvel films to have posters come out like this now—regardless of the genre. There's also a Black Panther poster with the same symmetrical style, but I think the balanced look works for a movie about people fighting over control for a throne, not for an action-comedy film about shrinking people.

Surely I'm not the only one who's caught on with this trend, and with the way Marvel is already considered formulaic, they may want to hold back on making even their posters look the same. I understand there are certain limitations when it comes to designing blockbuster posters, but you have to show at least some creativity.

Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. Approached by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, Lang must once again don the Ant-Man suit and fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy.

Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out July 5.
