Ant-Man and The Wasp Director Wants to Helm MCU Fantastic Four Movie

(Marvel Comics)

Now that Disney has offered 21st Century Fox $71 Billion dollars, it seems like it's is only a matter of time before the latter accepts the deal and Disney becomes an even bigger global juggernaut in entertainment. However, despite some reports claiming that Fox has accepted, there is still no official confirmation, so MCU versions of the X-Men and Fantastic Four won't get announced anytime soon.

This is a shame too since Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed really wants to get his hands on Marvel's first family.

Speaking briefly with CinemaBlend, Reed has said that he mentions Fantastic Four quite a bit on the hallways of Marvel Studios. However, with talks of the Fox merger still in doubt, Reed can only dream if making a film with these characters until an official announcement is made. Even then, Marvel might not choose him right away and will likely wait for the best pitch.

"Well, I have been known to mention Fantastic Four in conversations that may or may not have happened in the Marvel hallways. It's all a giant question mark at this point, because no one knows if this merger is going to happen. It was on, it was off, it was on... who knows. I guess I can dream, right? I can have the dream. We'll see. Time will tell!"

Fox might have a decent track record with the X-Men films thanks to Days of Future Past and Logan but the same thing cannot be said for Fantastic Four. There is one that was not released in cinemas, then there were the two films that a lot of people didn't like, and years after we got a gritty reboot that was worse than the three previous movies.

Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp comes out on July 6.
