Ant-Man Star Evangeline Lilly Comments On DC Films And Why They Fail

It's no mystery that Marvel is currently dominating the comic book movie genre with DC falling haplessly behind. Ant-Man star Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) attended the Emerald City Comic-Con, and shared her thoughts on why DC hasn't found the same success as Marvel.

During the panel, Lilly was talking about starting her job with Marvel Studios. She said that she was a little anxious about working with the studio at first, but she eventually warmed up to working for them. She says, "How have I missed these guys who are making really cool superheroes who don't take themselves too seriously."

And the studio that took themselves too seriously, you ask? They're DC films. Bleeding Cool says that a massive "Ooooooooohhh!" came out from the audience after Lilly's statement, and Marvel is yet to find some true competition in the box office.

Personally, I'm fine with DC taking a more serious direction with their movies. The only problem that the DC movies have is execution. Dark Knight is probably one of the best superhero movies ever made, and it handled some pretty mature subject matter. It's not about taking themselves too seriously, it's about telling a story properly — Something that Marvel is pretty good at doing.

Evangeline Lilly will return as Hope Van Dyne a.k.a. The Wasp in Ant-Man and The Wasp, which hits theaters July 6, 2018.
