Annette Bening Joins Captain Marvel Cast in Mystery Role

The hype for Captain Marvel is at an all-time high right now, thanks to the aftermath of Infinity War. Based on the post-credits sequence, it's clear that we will be seeing Brie Larson's version of the character in Avengers 4 after her solo film establishes who she is and why she does what she does.

Interestingly enough, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a new cast member for the film; Annette Bening. Her role hasn't been revealed yet, with sources telling THR that the actress will likely be a scientist, though that's a pretty vague role. Other sources are also claiming that she could also be Carol's mom, which could lead to some funny moments.

Bening has appeared in American Beauty, The Kids are All Right, and 20th Century Women, among other films. She's a solid actress and joins a pretty star-studded cast that includes Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and Lee Pace, to name a few.

Captain Marvel will be set in the 90's and will not only detail how Carol Danvers got her powers but is also going to take us through the Kree-Skrull War. This was a legendary Avengers story, so making this the backdrop to Carol's origin is one way to get fans interested.

Fans will be able to see Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
