Anime Industry In Trouble With One In Every Four Studio Losing Money

The anime industry might be growing strong with many more fans and viewers around the world, however it seems like anime studios continue to struggle financially.

A recent Japanese television report (via Otakusaa) has just revealed that every one out four anime studios are currently experiencing losses in finances, with the number increasing the past two years despite the rise in anime titles produced.

According to the report, 25% of the studios in the industry have turned to the red – a 20% increase from the numbers back during the years between 2011 and 2014. This alarming trend has gotten the Japanese Public television investigating and apparently the problem lay with the animators themselves. About "80% of animators quit within their first three years of working with a company" because of their low wages, earning only about $540 USD a month despite all the hard work they put into animating a series.

Apparently the industry has been focusing on quantity over quality as of late and this has resulted in high turnover rates for animators and staff. If this continues to happen, it'll only be a matter of time till the anime industry starts to fall.
