America vs Japan: Who Will Win the World’s First Giant Robot Fight in June?

Sci-fi fans get excited! The world's first intercontinental giant robot fight is coming in June.

On June 30, 2015, America challenged Japan to battle them in the world's first intercontinental giant robot fight. "As a duty to the science fiction lovers of this world," Japan happily accepted the challenge.

Take a look at America's invitation in the amusing video below:

Japan quickly responded and accepted the challenge with its own video, whilst also raising the stakes with melee combat:

Megabot vs. Kuratas is on!

Both countries were given a year to prepare, and now, the massive showdown is less than three months away. Japan and America will go head to head on June on neutral ground. Both countries will use their own 15-foot-tall gundam suits that will be piloted by one or two people inside.

We haven't seen any updates on the progress of the two robots, but to keep up the hype, let's take a look back at how they looked last year:

You might be wondering how the two robots are made.

Well, the Megabot is currently 15 feet high weighing 12,000 pounds. It's able to move around with tank-style tracks. The giant robot needs two pilots – a gunner and a driver. Its arm has been equipped with paintball cannons that shoot off oversized paintballs at 120 miles per hour.

Take a look at Megabot with a live audience:

Meanwhile, Suidobashi's Kuratas is 13 feet tall and weighs 9,000 pounds. Kuratas is faster, lighter, and is built with 4 wheels to easily move around. Kuratas only requires one pilot. The giant robot has a more high-tech augmented reality cockpit display that can target guns on an opponent using its automated target acquisition and tracking interface abilities. Its weapons? A twin Gatling BB cannons with the ability to fire 6,000 BB pellets per minute, as well as a water cannon that shoots off missiles in random directions and will hit its target "from time to time."

Check out Kuratas in the video below:

I'm not entirely certain who will win between the two, but I'm sure at this point they're already fully equipped and almost ready for battle. The two duellers know what's at cost – the future of the sports of giant robot battles. Sci-fi fans will be keeping their eyes out.

Are you excited for this battle? Who do you think will win?
