Amazing Spider-Man #800 Will Be A Huge 80-Page Story

Just like the name of the arc, it looks like Dan Slott is gonna Go Down Swinging, as Marvel has revealed that Amazing Spider-Man #800 is an 80-page monster. This will be the culmination of the Go Down Swinging arc, with Spider-Man taking on the Carnage-possessed Norman Osborn who now calls himself Red Goblin. Slott will be leaving the title with Amazing Spider-Man #801 but his penultimate issue is going to be huge; figuratively and literally.

The storyline will kick off in Amazing Spider-Man #797. Norman actually got in contact with the Carnage symbiote as early as Amazing Spider-Man #794, so Slott has been building this up.

Slott will be joined by a number of fan-favorite artists who have contributed to his lengthy run on Amazing Spider-Man. Aside from Stuart Immonen, we will also see Humberto Ramos, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Jim Cheung. These artists have left their mark on the web-slinger and it will be nice seeing some familiar interiors in one of Slott's final issues.

Immonen joined the title post-Clone Conspiracy and helped kicked off this Norman Osborn story with the giant-sized Amazing Spider-Man #25 (2017). Humberto Ramos was the first artist to work with Slott when the writer got the full-time gig for the character, drawing memorable arcs like the introductory Big Time, Spider-Island, and Dying Wish, which was the prelude to Superior Spider-Man, so he more than deserves to be in this issue.

Speaking of Superior Spider-Man, Camuncoli is also one of the longest artists to work with Slott on Spider-Man. He illustrated a few Amazing arcs but his artwork was at its best during Superior Spider-Man. As for Jim Cheung, he might not have been in ASM for long but he did provide the outstanding visuals for Clone Conspiracy, which altered Pete's status quo and brought back Ben Reilly as an anti-hero.

Amazing Spider-Man #800 comes out on May 30.
