Han Solo’s Jacket In Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is Being Auctioned Off By Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford has decided to auction off Han Solo’s famous jacket in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the name of research.
Fans were over the moon seeing Harrison Ford reprise his role as Han Solo in The Force Awakens. Now, the 73-year-old actor has decided to give fans a chance to take the thrill home by auctioning off the jacket that the iconic space smuggler wore in last year’s record-breaking Star Wars film. However, not only will a fan get to own a piece of movie history that’s been signed by Ford, he/she will be helping in the research for finding a cure to Epilepsy.
Set at $18,000, proceeds from the auction will reportedly go to the NYU Langone Center and FACES (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures).
Ford has been supporting the Center for quite some time now ever since Comprehensive Epilsepy Center, Dr. Orrin Devinsky, correctly diagnosed Georgia.
Speaking about Georgia’s condition, Ford told the New York Daily News:
When you have a loved one who suffers from this disease, it can be devastating. You know how it affects their lives, their future, their opportunities and you want desperately to find mitigation. You want to find a way that they can live a comfortable and effective life.
Now that’s a hero.
Hollywood has seen Ford in his films as tough heroic characters. It’s certainly rare to see this side of him. Hopefully, rumors will prove true and we’ll see more of the actor in future Star Wars films just as we’ll be able to see him in Indiana Jones 5.
