Alexandra Has A Closer Link To The Defenders Than Expected

It looks like The Defenders' mysterious Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) might have a deeper connection to Marvel Netflixs group of heroes other than being able to control Elektra (Elodie Yung).

The Marvel Netflix mash-up series is dropping in a week and Marvel TV's been keeping up the marketing campaign by releasing new clips from the series. The official Twitter handle for Daredevil let out a new clip today and in it we get to see Alexandra talking down to a captive that turns out to be Matt's (Charlie Cox) old mentor Stick (Scott Glenn). Right before she removes the bag over the master martial artist's head, she tells him "not to bite, old friend. It's undignified."

Check it out down here:

This makes perfect sense. Most of the promotional material and interviews for The Defenders have hinted at Alexandra's involvement with the Hand. Meanwhile, Stick's been fighting the group using another organization called the Chaste.

Not only is Stick the old mentor of Matt Murdock, but previous trailers for The Defenders also has him urging the New York heroes to work together to protect the city from Alexandra. This new clip definitely suggests that Stick and Alexandra go way back, and though it's uncertain how long their shared history is, we feel like there might be a few surprising reveals once The Defenders makes its big debut.

The Defenders arrives on Netflix on August 18.
