Alec Baldwin Cast as Thomas Wayne in Joker

WB is undoubtedly trying something different with the upcoming Joker solo movie, and the cast for the film continues to grow. Just in, they've found someone to play Batman's father, Thomas Wayne.

According to The Wrap, Alec Baldwin has been cast as one of DC comics' most famous dead people. We still don't know as to the extent of Baldwin's role in the movie, but I'm guessing we're going to see Wayne from the eyes of a street-level person like Joker.

In Batman v Superman, Thomas Wayne was played by Watchmen's Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but seeing as this film takes place in an alternate timeline, it would make sense that they would recast the role.

Personally, I actually want to see Thomas Wayne make it alive to the end of the movie, because we don't really need to see him die for the hundredth time. I'm interested in seeing what Thomas Wayne was up to when he was alive. Was he always a rich philanthropic doctor? Or does he know something that Batman doesn't?

Baldwin joins a cast which includes Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Marc Maron, and Robert De Niro. Admittedly, the film has already assembled an impressive roster of actors, but I wouldn't be surprised if they added a bunch more cast members down the line.

Joker is directed by Todd Phillips and is set for a release on Oct. 4, 2019.
