A 24-year-old man has passed away after a freak accident that could make you more cautious with theater recliner seats.

As The Guardian reports: A customer at the Vue Cinema in Birmingham died after his head "became wedged under the electronic footrest of a cinema seat."

According to The Guardian, the tragic accident happened after the customer bent down to retrieve a phone, dropped between Gold Class seats, at the end of the film. The man, who was with his partner, was only freed after the footrest was broken by those who were trying to help. He went into cardiac arrest at one point, and he wasn't able to recover.

There are no Vue Cinemas and "Gold Class" theaters in America, but a Google image search reveals that their seats look like some kind of plush recliners.

Vue International released a statement and promised "a full investigation into the nature of the incident."
