A Crossover Between Batman and The Shadow is Coming

Batman is going to be teaming up with one of his biggest inspirations,THRreports. There will be a six issue miniseries called Batman/The Shadow launching on April 26. The two vigilantes will try to solve an unsolvable murder mystery together.

The Shadow first debuted in 1930 as the mysterious narrator on the radio program Detective Story Hour. From there, he became an iconic hero- a black-clad detective who solved crimes. He was cited as one of the main inspirations for Batman, who debuted years later. Bill Finger admitted that his first Batman script was take-off on a Shadow story.

Batman and The Shadow have crossed over previously, but this will be the first time they've been together since the 1970s. The miniseries will be written by Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando and illustrated by Riley Rossmo. The basic plot of the series will be Batman cornering a murder suspect named Lamont Cranston- only to discover Cranston is The Shadow and he's supposed to have been dead for half a century.

"To bring together the World's Greatest Detective and the World's Greatest Mystery is an honor," said Steve Orlando. "Batman/The Shadow will pay tribute to legacies in comics and pulp fiction, as the two characters meet in a generations-deep conflict unlike any they've seen before, with a case that stretches back to the origins of time and which will redefine murder."

Here's the cover and interiors by Rossmo:

Redefining murder is a pretty big order, but if anyone could do it, it's these two icons. This miniseries seems like a cool idea. What do you think? Will you be getting it?
