Breaking Down The Latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi TV Spot

Last night, a brand new TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi dropped, and while it was hardly as epic as last month’s full trailer, it still delivered some tantalizing new footage that has the whole Star Wars fan community talking. Naturally, that includes us here at Epicstream, as well, so we’re here to break down the new TV spot and highlight its greatest moments.

Check it out:

  1. A Dreary Day On Ahch-To

We kick things off with a beautiful shot of the Millennium Falcon on the shores of Ahch-To. Even under grey skies, this image is stunning.

  2. Who Could It Be?

After the establishing shot, we see a hooded figure entering the cockpit of the Falcon. But who in the galaxy could it possibly be?

  3. Totally Called It

As if there was any doubt, the person entering the Falcon's cockpit is Luke Skywalker. This marks the first time we've seen him inside Hal Solo's prized freighter since The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, and from the look of Luke's face, the memories are instantly flooding back. Perhaps the grief, too, as he'll never see his friend park himself in that seat again.

  4. Snap, Crackle, Pop-Killer

Here, we get a nice close-up shot of Kylo Ren's gloved hand gripping the handle of his trusty lightsaber, with it's crackling, fiery red blade and crossguard. But who will potentially feel Kylo's wrath?

  5. Snoke's Throne Room

After Kylo, we cut to a shot of Supreme Leader Snoke's throne room, where we see not only Snoke's Elite Praetorian Guard, but General Hux, who was conspicuous by his absence in last month's trailer.

  6. A Look Of Concern, Or Curiosity?

After we see Rey ignite her (AKA Luke's old) lightsaber, we cut to a shot of the aging Jedi, who expresses a look of either concern or curiousity (or maybe a little bit of both).

  7. The Falcon On Crait (Part I)

The dogfight on Crait, complete with B-Wings, Gorilla Walkers, and more, just wouldn't be complete without the Millennium Falcon. Here, we see the Falcon take out a TIE fighter. It will be interesting to see who's flying the ship and who's in the gunner seat.

  8. Finn Approves

Regardless of who's flying the Falcon and who's doing the shooting, Finn certainly seems to approve. That begs the question, though, of what exactly Finn is doing. From the way the footage is cut, it seems to be implied that he's flying a ship. Did his buddy Poe give him some lessons?

  9. The Old Guard

We've yet to see much from Leia in any of the footage that's been released, and the new TV spot is no different. Still, it's nice to see Carrie Fisher in a familiar setting again.

  10. The Falcon On Crait (Part I)

The mineral planet of Crait is no match for the Millennium Falcon, which crashes through the surface with ease, leaving a cloud of blood-red dust in its wake.

  11. Swinging (Sabers) In The Rain

The full trailer heavily implied Rey's eventual turn to the dark side, and here, we get another tease of her change of heart. WIth Luke lying vulnerably on the rocky ground of Ahch-To in the rain, Rey, standing tall above him, ignites the blue lightsaber, giving fans one of the best-looking shots of the TV spot. Does this mean she's turning against her newfound master, though, or is it simply misdirection?

  12. December 15 Can't Come Soon Enough

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15, and tickets are on sale now!
