Stranger Things and X-Men aren't so different. They both feature young people with psychic abilities and they both feature a group of talented heroes. Sure, Mike and his friends don't possess supernatural powers like Eleven do but it would be awesome if the actors actually played mutants in a future X-men film.
Artist BossLogic went ahead and imagined what they would look like if the cast of Stranger Things were X-Men. He created mutant versions for each character: Mike is Cyclops, Eleven is Phoenix, Will is Iceman, Lucas is Bishop, Dustin is Beast, Nancy is Rogue, Steve is Gambit, Jonathan is Cannonball (That's actually his role in the New Mutants movie), Hopper is Sabretooth, Joyce is Mystique, and Sadie is Emma Frost.
