MorphCostumes created an infographic that features two dozen scary creatures in literature. Using the powers, appearance, and evil intent of the scary baddies, the site ranked them in order of scariness with an unsurprising winner: Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's It.
I think they did a good job including iconic monsters and ranking them, but I'm disappointed that they didn't include the Slake Moth from China Mieville's award-winning novel, Perdido Street Station. That was one of the most terrifying creatures I've read about.
