5 Biggest Reveals from The Rise of Skywalker

It’s no secret that J.J. Abrams had a lot to tackle in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. After all, it’s the final film in the Skywalker Saga and there are so many things that need to be dealt with. Not surprisingly, Episode IX shed some light on the franchise’s biggest mysteries. We finally have some answers to the questions we have been asking since the original trilogy was introduced decades ago.

So what are the biggest reveals in The Rise of Skywalker? Fans finally got to know the truth about Rey’s heritage and what really happened to former Supreme Leader Snoke. Episode IX also confirmed that Rey found a new mentor who was even more efficient than Luke Skywalker. Here are five of the biggest reveals from The Rise of Skywalker.

  1. Emperor Palpatine’s Return

It didn’t take long before it was confirmed that Emperor Palpatine is back and that he has been sending out a message proclaiming the return of the Sith. Not surprisingly, everyone is worried about Darth Sidious preparing for his comeback. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren immediately set out to look for the villain, procures a Sith Wayfinder device, and finds Palpatine hiding in the planet Exogol.

As it turns out, Palpatine had survived the fall in Return of the Jedi although he has been physically impaired from the ordeal. Nevertheless, he has already amassed a fleet of Star Destroyers which are capable of destroying entire planets. Moreover, Palpatine has been the true mastermind who was controlling the First Order right from the start.

  2. The Truth About Snoke

Palpatine also confirmed something people had suspected from the start. When Kylo declared that he killed Snoke and intends to kill Palpatine as well, the villain merely laughed at him and stated that Snoke has been his puppet all along. Palpatine had used the former Supreme Leader to seduce Kylo into the Dark Side of the Force and it is suggested that he had wanted Kylo to eventually take his place as the new Emperor.

There have been several theories about Snoke being connected to Palpatine ever since it was confirmed that Darth Sidious will be back in The Rise of Skywalker. Although this really shouldn’t count as a major reveal, it’s still interesting to note that Palpatine was never gone and had been keeping an eye on Kylo from the start.

  3. Rey’s New Master

There is little doubt that Rey had to continue with her training although Luke had already passed away in The Last Jedi. Luckily, she’s getting some help from someone who is also familiar with the ways of the Jedi. And it’s not a new character who was just introduced out of nowhere. As Leia tells her to continue with her training later, Rey answers, “Yes, Master.”

It’s an awesome confirmation that Leia had trained as a Jedi after what happened in Return of the Jedi. It is later revealed that Leia didn’t finish her training and decided to lead the Resistance in the fight against the First Order. Nevertheless, that didn’t stop her from giving Rey the proper Jedi training that would help the girl later in the film

  4. The First Order Spy

In The Rise of Skywalker, it was revealed that a spy has been sharing information about the First Order with the Resistance. At first, viewers had no idea who could be going against the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. However, it is eventually revealed when Finn, Poe Dameron, and Chewbacca are captured.

The group encounters General Hux who immediately shoots the Stormtroopers holding them captive and announces that he is the spy. Poe enthusiastically claims that he had known about it all along but Finn is unconvinced. When Finn asks why Hux is helping them win, Hux responds that he only wants Kylo to lose. Unfortunately, he is later killed by Allegiant General Pryde who realized that they had found the spy

  5. Meet Rey’s Parents

Did you have any theories about Rey’s heritage? At one point, people believed she could be Ben Solo’s sister, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s daughter, or even Palpatine’s clone. Amazingly, one of these theories was pretty close.

When they are connected through the Force yet again, Kylo tells Rey that she is Palpatine’s granddaughter and that her father was actually Palpatine’s son who didn’t want to be connected to the villain. In addition to that, Palpatine had been looking for Rey because he wants her killed due to her powers being greater than his. Although Rey was initially disgusted with the idea of being a Palpatine, she would later face her own grandfather in an epic fight.
