  • Neil deGrasse Tyson Weighs In On Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson saw The Force Awakens, and promptly took to Twitter to point out the scientific inaccuracies. He had several tweets that pointed out incorrect things involving physics, such as the fact that BB-8 would skid “uncontrollably on sand” if the droid was really a smooth ball. And of course, Tyson had to criticize the Starkiller Base, saying that “If you were to suck all of a star's energy into your planet, your planet would vaporize.” He elaborated, saying that “The energy in a Star is enough to destroy ten-thousand planets, not just a few here & there.” In @StarWars #TheForceAwakens, the Storm Troopers still run as though they’re carrying a full load of poop in their diapers. — Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) December 21, 2015 In @StarWars #TheForceAwakens, if you were to suck all of a star’s energy into your planet, your planet would vaporize. — Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) December 21, 2015 In @StarWars #TheForceAwakens, BB-8, a smooth rolling metal spherical ball, would have skidded uncontrollably on sand. — Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) December 21, 2015 In @StarWars #TheForceAwakens, apparently Wookiees don’t age, or they age much slower than human actors do. — Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) December 21, 2015 You can tell that Neil deGrasse Tyson is trolling Star Wars, especially in some of his funnier Tweets. One of these Tweets says, “Storm Troopers still run as though they're carrying a full load of poop in their diapers.” Clearly you can't take him too seriously, but there definitely are still a few interesting facts in his series of Star Wars-related Tweets.

  • Final Batman: Arkham Knight DLC Comes Out December 22, Features New ...
The final batch of downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Knight comes out on December 22, and it marks the end of developer Rocksteady Studios' run with the Arkham series. Rocksteady is going all-out though on this new DLC, and they've gone over some of the details in the new episode of Batman: Arkham Insider. The team announced that the new “Most Wanted” missions will have Batman going up against Killer Croc, Mister Freeze, Mad Hatter, and Ra's Al Ghul. The DLC will also include a new Batman costume based on Christian Bale's costume in The Dark Knight – a feature heavily requested by fans. Rocksteady has had a good run with the Arkham games, and they've had tremendous success with Arkham Knight. It's nice that the studio isn't skimping on the final installment of DLC, even though it's their last update. It seems that will be a lot of great new content for fans to enjoy, and it's a big deal to be putting some of the most iconic Batman villains in the game. You can watch the Batman: Arkham Insider video below to get a more in-depth look at the new DLC.

  • Destiny's Iron Banner Returns At The End of December, Offers ...
The Iron Banner competitive multiplayer mode is returning to Destiny on December 29. According to developer Bungie's blog post, the limited-time event will offer some PlayStation-exclusive gear to those who rack up enough Iron Banner ranks. In addition to the universal rewards – including Haakon's Hatchet auto rifle and Deidris's Retort shotgun – there will be three helms and three class items only available to PlayStation players. The last Iron Banner featured the Clash game mode (6 vs. 6 deathmatch), but on December 29 Bungie will be returning to the the Control mode for the event. Regardless, I will probably get destroyed as usual, but the exclusive rewards seem like a good motivation to try my hand at the Iron Banner anyway. The Iron Banner will go up mere hours after the Sparrow Racing League is taken down. I think think this is a good release strategy, because Destiny players don't like having to wait for small events, and players are more likely to stick around if they are given a constant influx of limited-time events. We'll keep you updated on any future events and updates for Destiny, and be sure to check out the Iron Banner when it goes live on December 29.

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Include Full Voice Acting, Might Be ...
When the PlayStation 4 remake of Final Fantasy VII launches, you can expect it to adhere to today's standards of full voice acting. Game director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke to Dengeki PlayStation for the most recent issue, and shared a few details about the game, including voice acting. According to the translation by Gematsu, Nomura and Kitase confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake will have voice acting throughout the whole game, although it's possible that they might use different voice actors than the ones in the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Kitase and Nomura also shared some additional details about the game. It could be more open-world than the original, though Kitase didn't necessarily want to refer to it as a “sandbox” game. Still, he did say that characters' actions in the game will affect the environment, and I'm really excited to see how this is implemented. The Final Fantasy VII Remake developers are planning to bring back the original mini-games, and are currently in talks about how to implement them. This is great news for fans of the original PlayStation title, because it shows Square Enix's commitment to honoring the original game and all its intricacies. Even if the battle system is going to be a bit different this time around. I'm very excited about Final Fantasy VII Remake, and it seems like it's shaping up to be a great next-gen game. Tetsuya Nomura mentioned that we probably won't get a lot more information until Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 is released, but we'll keep you updated when he hear more.

  • Tales of Berseria is Heading West on PS4 and PC
Tales of Berseria, the newest chapter in the Tales JRPG series, is coming west to PlayStation 4 and PC platforms. Bandai Namco announced this at the Jump Festa event today, with an awesome new announcement trailer that showcases some of the game's story and gameplay. There is no specific release date yet, though Tales of Berseria is supposed to launch in Japan sometime in 2016. Given the development pace of recent Tales games, it's not out of the question to guess that the game could arrive in America in late 2016 or early 2017. The trailer has a notably darker tone than most Tales games. The story seems to deal with an apocalyptic event that turned people into werewolf-like creatures, and a protagonist that has some demonic powers of her own. I definitely got a Bloodborne vibe from the trailer, which isn't a bad thing at all. Everything that fans expect from a Tales game is still there – stylized graphics, faced-paced real-time combat, and an engaging story. Tales of Berseria won't be released for a while, but check out the trailer below to get a taste of what you can expect from the upcoming game.

  • New Kingdom Hearts III Footage Looks Amazing
At the Jump Festa event in Japan, Square Enix unveiled a beefy 5-minute long trailer for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8, the last two minutes of which included some brand new Kingdom Hearts III gameplay. This is exciting news for fans of the series, because it means that we are finally getting closer to getting our hands on the long-awaited RPG. The trailer starts out by showing some of the story cinematics for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8, which include a HD remaster of the Nintendo 3DS game Dream Drop Distance. But when it approaches the 4 minute mark, Kingdom Hearts III footage starts playing, and we're treated to some stunning environments, gorgeous particle effects, and the unique real-time combat that makes Kingdom Hearts a favorite among JRPG fans. This trailer definitely rekindled my excitement for Kingdom Hearts III. The game seems to have stayed true to the feel of the amazing first two core games in the series, but with clearly enhanced visuals and combat mechanics. The only thing the trailer is lacking is a release date. We know that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 is coming to PS4 sometime in 2016, and Kingdom Hearts III will be released after that. Hopefully we will get more information about this soon, but in the meantime, check out the awesome new footage below!

  • Destiny Gets $30 Level Boost Microtransaction
Bungie has apparently taken notes from World of Warcraft, and is now offering a paid level boost as a microtransaction in Destiny. The PlayStation Store lists the add-on for $30 dollars, which gives you an instant boost to level 25 for a Hunter, Titan, or Warlock class. It also comes with a Subclass Boost and Telemetries. This is similar to the free level boost that Destiny provided to players that bought The Taken King expansion. Considering that $30 is more than the entire first Destiny expansion cost, it's insane to charge that much for a level boost that doesn't even take your character that close to the max level (40). It makes sense for some MMOs to offer things like level boosts, since it lets new players skip the hundreds of hours needed to catch up to the current content. But leveling up in Destiny has already been made easier, and it might take only 20 hours to reach the max level from level 1. Hopefully, Bungie isn't moving in a pay-to-win direction for microtransactions, because I think the Destiny fan community would not be very happy about it. Things like instant level boosts devalue the hard work the veteran players have put in to power up their characters, and Bungie will have to be very careful not to offend that demographic moving forward.

  • New Bad Lip Readings of the Original Star Wars Trilogy Are Hilarious
Purposefully incorrect lip readings of movies and TV shows are always fun to watch. Star Wars fans who enjoy these types of videos are in luck, because the official Bad Lip Reading Youtube comedy channel has released 3 bad lip reading videos for each of the original Star Wars films. The lip readings are hilarious and random, and these videos have enlisted some big name actors like Bill Hader, Jack Black, and Maya Rudolph to help with the badly-dubbed voices of Star Wars. There are hilarious lines in these lip readings about Leia being unable to find a person that sells wooden snowmen, Darth Vader sending selfies, and more. As an added layer of production quality, the lip readings are processed in a way that emulates the sound design in the original Star Wars movies. I couldn't even tell at first that Jack Black was reading for Darth Vader, because the dialogue processing was so convincing. If you need some funny Star Wars content in your life, check out the very funny lip reads of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi below.

  • Fallout 4 Modder Pulls Off Some Crazy Trick Shots
Many of us have seen the popular “trick shot” videos online, where people get basketballs through hoops using wildly inventive ideas. What most of us haven't seen, however, are trick shot montages set inside a video game. Youtube and modder DefendTheHouse has posted some awesome gameplay footage of him doing some basketball trick shots in Fallout 4, in a video aptly named “Ballout 4.” In this video, there are some awesome basketball stunts, such as the modder shooting the ball with a handgun to propel it into the basket, and dropping a ball down a set of stairs, causing it to bounce into the hoop. There's even one trick shot that utilizes a sniper rifle. It's all pretty impressive, and makes me wonder what kind of creative things the modding community will come up with next. Take a moment to appreciate modders like DefendTheHouse by checking out the video below!

  • More Final Fantasy XV Details To Be Revealed Soon
We've been waiting a long, long time for Final Fantasy XV, but thankfully we'll be getting some more details about the game soon. Developer Square Enix has announced that the next Final Fantasy Active Time Report broadcast will include some new battle footage, a closer look at the Niflheim Empire, “and more.” The broadcast will be sometime in January 2016, and it will be the first Active Time Report since August. Could this upcoming broadcast be the moment where we get an actual release date for Final Fantasy XV? Even a confirmed release window would be better than nothing at this point. The Active Time Reports are often hosted by game director Hajime Tabata, so he would certainly have the clearance to make an announcement like that. Even if we don't find out when the game is coming out, I'm very excited to hear more about the Niflheim Empire and see more of the battle system in action. I really enjoyed the Final Fantasy XV demo when it came out, but the combat was a little clunky and the movement didn't feel as fluid as I expected. Hopefully we'll be able to see the tweaks Square Enix has made to these systems, when the Active Time Report goes live in January.
