X-Men’s Next Mutants Won’t Have This Charles Xavier & Cannonball

Castings (and the lack thereof) for X-Men: The New Mutants have been trickling in recently.

Following the confirmation that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will be officially playing the role of Wolfsbane a.k.a. Rahne Sinclair as well as Split's Anya Taylor-Joy, who will be Magik a.k.a. Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina.

This time, the news from The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit is the opposite—two stars that won't be appearing in the series. The first is X-Men sort-of alum James McAvoy, who has portrayed Professor Charles Xavier.

This is surprising, seeing as how his previous casting as Professor X seemed to have assured McAvoy a role in the New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. There had even been an earlier report from Simon Kinberg where he had hinted that given the earlier movies, Professor X will have a place New Mutants.

Another star who won't be joining the cast of X-Men: The New Mutants is Nat Wolff. Previously, Wolff had been tagged for a possible role of Cannonball a.k.a. Sam Guthrie. He should've been a mutant who could fly at high speeds.

New Mutants will be released on April 13, 2018.
