WWE's The Miz Says He's Ready to Play Johnny Cage After Mortal Kombat Creator's Endorsement

It's almost guaranteed that Johnny Cage will appear in Mortal Kombat 2 and while plans for the sequel have not been announced yet, it's safe to assume that Warner Bros. is already developing it considering how well the 2021 remake performed at the box office despite the mixed reactions from fans and critics. Now, the question is, who should get the honor of playing the fan-favorite video game character in the sequel?

WWE superstar Mike "The Miz" Mizanin has long expressed his desire to play Johnny Cage on the big screen and a lot of fans are convinced that he'll do the role justice. The hype surrounding his potential casting only intensified when Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon gave the professional wrestler his seal of approval.

Now, in an interview with TMZ, The Miz said he's ready to take on the role should the opportunity present itself. He explained: 'Honestly if I have a shot at it, I would definitely want to make sure that I give everything that I possibly can to make sure that not only the production company, the director is happy with the character that I get, but also the fans because they are the ones that are so adamant about Johnny Cage being in the movie. This is an iconic character in the Mortal Kombat franchise and it needs to be done right. If I'm the person to do it, then so be it. I'm ready to go!"

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds as previously teased his "desire" to also take on the role but if I had to choose, I'd go with The Miz because he's just as charismatic as the Canadian actor and let's face it, with Deadpool 3 on the way and all the side projects he's working on, he'll have a lot on his plate to even accommodate Mortal Kombat 2. And to Miz's credit, he's starred and headlined his own films in the past so this isn't his first acting rodeo if ever. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
