World War Hulks Rumored to Be In Development as Avengers Movie at Marvel

World War Hulks may be the next Avengers movie from Marvel's Cinematic Universe, according to reports.

Mark Ruffalo plays the Hulk in the MCU. Initially, Edward Norton was cast as the giant green rage monster in The Incredible Hulk (2008), the movie that helped kick-start the MCU.

The Red Hulk, also known as Rulk or the IncREDible Hulk, first appeared in the Hulk comic book series in 2008.

The true identity of this Red Hulk kept fans in suspense until it was finally revealed in the 2010 World War Hulks storyline.

Rumors Suggest World War Hulks Could Be in Development

According to Insider thecomixkid1, the next Avengers-style movie will be World War Hulks.

In an exchange on X.com (formerly Twitter), thecomixkid1 was asked if he had any updates on the Hulk or World War Hulks; he replied that he last heard it was being developed as an Avengers film.

The Hulk character has been involved in a distribution battle between Disney and Universal for many years. The latter owns the rights to The Incredible Hulk, meaning that Universal has the right of first refusal to distribute any solo Hulk movies.

In the MCU, the Hulk was last seen on the big screen in Avengers: Endgame. Ruffalo also had a cameo on the Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in 2022, and no confirmation of further appearances has been made.

Speaking with GQ magazine this February, Ruffalo said, “I’d love to do a standalone Hulk; I just don’t think that’s ever going to happen,” and continued that the price of the CGI to create the Hulk onscreen is very expensive.

In the comic version of the World War Hulks storyline, Red Hulk's identity is revealed as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.

Harrison Ford has been cast as the General in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. William Hurt previously portrayed Ross in the MCU until his death in 2022.

The Red Hulk is a tactful, intelligent, and uninhibited adversary for Hulk; he was created using gamma radiation and cosmic rays with the same satellite that reverted Hulk to Bruce Banner at the end of World War Hulk.
