Wonder Woman Will Introduce Us to This Version of Diana Prince

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received mixed reactions from both fans and critics when it was released. However, it's safe to say that Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was one of the highlights of the film. The 31-year-old Israeli actress received fan and critical acclaim. That said, fans were disappointed that the character didn't get enough screen time in the movie. Well, the Patty Jenkins-helmed Wonder Woman will likely fill our appetites for the feisty Diana Prince. The thing is, while we may have liked Gadot's Diana in Dawn of Justice, audiences will be treated to an entirely different version of the character in her own solo film.

As Gadot told SciFiNow in an interview:

In Batman V Superman, you are being introduced to a very experienced, dark Wonder Woman. She has been around for a while. Something happened 100 years ago that made her not want to be involved in a man's world.
However, we are going to tell the entire coming of age story of Diana. We're going to see how she becomes Wonder Woman. She is very different to the Diana that you see in [Dawn Of Justice]. She is more naïve and she's purer. She is a young idealist who does not yet understand the complexities of life.

In a previous interview, Gadot also teased a "dark" tone to Wonder Woman.

These statements certainly align with the movie's setting, which takes place during World War I. A lot could happen to people during war, and no other event will probably change a naive and idealist character as fast as war.

Hopefully, we'll like the old Diana Prince as much as we liked her in Dawn of Justice.

Wonder Woman will hit theaters on June 2, 2017.
