Wonder Woman Talks About the Younger Diana on Themyscira

The face of Diana Prince or Wonder Woman in recent memory has been pegged on Gal Gadot, who will be starring in the titular movie coming out next month. However, as everyone who has seen the trailers will know, we'll see Diana's origin story--and that means seeing her as the young Princess.

In an interview seen below, Gadot talks about Diana as a child, and from here we can see the struggle of someone who is a headstrong girl trapped in a sheltered life.

"When you first meet Diana on the island, she's about 5, 6, and she is this curious little girl who's very courageous, who's very sassy and naughty, and she's very inspired by her aunt. She wants to learn how to fight, but she's very sheltered and very protected by her mother, who does not allow her to do so, but she finds her ways… She has this spark in her. She has this fire in her eyes, and she eventually gets her way."

We do see glimpses of this character in the trailer. Diana is very much the curious child (aptly portrayed by Emily Carey), so much so that you could already feel the tension every time she's warned of the dangers of the outside world--and her apparent lack of caution to it. I can imagine that being a princess would make her be one of the most protected Amazon in their world, but it does make me wonder if there's a reason that they're bent on protecting her--I'm looking at you, Ares.

Wonder Woman will be out in theaters on June 2. It stars Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis.
