Wonder Woman #29 Takes A Jab At Gal Gadot's Body Shamers

When Gal Gadot was first cast as Wonder Woman, it seemed like everyone's hormones went crazy for the casting. Though some felt that she was too skinny for the role, she did win fans over in Batman v Superman and the actual Wonder Woman movie. Still, that hasn't stopped fans from oogling or criticizing the actress' body, and a certain comic book has had enough of that.

In Wonder Woman #29, the Amazon Warrior is taking on assassins who want to kill her and deliver her body to the person who requested the bounty. It's not that crazy of a comic story, but what did gain attention was the heroine's inner monologue, which seems to address the various online comments made about her. She even specifically mentions "the comments section," so that's kind of neat.

Here is her monologue about people's obsession with her body, which seems to be a meta reference to everyone checking out and criticizing Gal Gadot:

Ever since I came to the world of humanity, my flesh has been the subject of intense speculation. They dissect my body with their gaze.
The comments sections rage about the circumference of my waist, the curl of my biceps, the curve of my thighs.
Many have long talked as if my body were theirs to own, a prize to be won, a golden fleece to be captured, expended and discarded.

Wonder Woman #29 is available now. It's the fourth part of the Heart of an Amazon storyline by Shea Fontana and Inaki Miranda. James Robinson of Starman fame will become the new Wonder Woman writer starting with Wonder Woman #31.
