Wonder Woman 1984 will see Diana Prince face two villains, Pedro Pascal's Max Lord and Kristen Wiig's Barbara Minerva. Though Chris Pine's Steve Trevor will make a surprising return, some fans are speculating that the movie might feature a love story between Barbara and Diana.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine (via Cosmic Book News), Gadot and Wiig were asked if there's some sort of romantic relationship between their characters. The magazine outlet pointed out that some fans think the characters were on a date in the trailer released. "I did not know that!" Wiig says with a laugh. "Oh, for a lesbian thing?"
While Gadot joked, "The sexual tension is always there, I can tell you that!" Director Patty Jenkins also clarified that there won't be a love story between the two, and it'll be more about Steve Trevor's return. Saying that there's no spare room in Diana's heart for another lover.
It wouldn't be surprising for some to think that there's something that could happen between Diana and Barbara, given that Steve is gone initially. Based on the trailer, his return has Wonder Woman shocked, so it would be understandable for the character to be involved with someone else prior to that. However, Jenkins has made it clear that there isn't a love story between Diana and Barbara, which could be disappointing for some.
