Will Star Wars Episode 9 See a Rewritten Script?

With tributes still pouring in for the late Carrie Fisher, the death of several generations' space princess has put a dent in so many hearts.

However, as much as we all feel the loss, business-wise, Disney itself also has its own set of problems that it will have to deal with, starting with the fact that General Organa's role and future in the franchise is also caught up in a toss-up of sorts.

While Fisher has finished filming all of her roles for Star Wars Episode VIII, that does not mean that her role as the great General has already ended. No one was expecting the tragedy to occur, and it doesn't help that the studio has originally planned to give Leia Organa a bigger role in the last of this recent Star Wars trilogy run. So does this hint a possible script tweaking to accommodate the recent tragedy?

What's more, CNBC recently reported that a representative from Disney did not confirm whether Leia will be part of the movie after Star Wars Episode VIII. This is a big disruption of the studio's plans, as early this year, director Colin Trevorrow has stated that he was planning to take the Star Wars veteran space twins role into a more expanded one with the new set of films.

"They are icons, but they're also people that have suffered tremendous loss and challenge over the course of all these films."

There's already a story there somewhere, between the supposed drifting apart of Leia and Han Solo, and that last scene between Rey and Luke. But speaking of tremendous loss, it can mean that an incident to lose Leia in the process of Star Wars Episode VIII or beyond may add to that "tremendous loss."

Either way, this could mean that the plans for Star Wars Episode IX will need some tweaking, be it in the way it will expound on the late princess's role or in writing her slowly (but properly) towards an end.
