Who is Seraphim in Blood of Zeus?

Blood of Zeus follows the story of half-brothers Heron and Seraphim as they navigate the real world of what it's like to grow up on different sides of a single coin.

Seraphim is the son of King Periander and Queen Electra, however, since his mother had an affair with Zeus, she ended up pregnant with twins; Seraphim is Periander's, while Heron happened to be Zeus'.

King Periander was enraged when he found out about this infidelity and attempted to kill Seraphim, but failed.

Seraphim is a man who had been raised driven by revenge, and it didn't help that Hera, the wife of Zeus who wanted revenge too, was feeding onto his anger so he would kill the God of Thunder.

However, one of the highlights of Seraphim's character is not only based on his tragic backstory but because on how he underwent a transformation that turned him into a demon-like figure.

Through this change, he was also able to use resources that any Demon can wield to their own abilities.

Considering that we'll be seeing Seraphim returning to the King of the Underworld this Blood of Zeus season 2, it's likely we'll still be seeing his 'pet' return. But what exactly is this pet of his?

What is Seraphim's Pet in the Netflix Series?

Blood of Zeus fans have long been debating what type of "pet" Seraphim has been riding on in season 1: is it a chimera or a manticore?

A chimera, according to Greek mythology, is a fire-breathing monster that is part lion, part goat, and part dragon.

Meanwhile, a manticore is described to be a creature that embodies the head of a man with horns, a lion's body, and the tail of a dragon or scorpion.

Although both legends have made their own appearances on the show, as of writing, the showrunners have yet to confirm which one it is, really.

However, there's also another difference we have to consider: chimeras come from Greek mythology, while a Manticore has made its appearances across ancient Greek, Persian, and Indian mythology.

The term "manticore" means "man-eater" in the early middle Persian term, merthykhuwar, which was exactly what we saw Heron face when he knocked Seraphim out of consciousness.

The manticore had the power of flight, a powerful bite, and a keen sense to dodge and be flexible from being harmed in battle. They also happen to have sharp claws to clutch onto their victims.
