Watch: Rogue One Gets Dissed For Its Lack of Characters, Story, and Emotion

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story received a lot of praise, with some fans even saying that it's the best Star Wars movie ever. We even gave it a perfect 10 in our review. The film is also certified fresh in Rotten Tomatoes with an 85% score, but of course, there are critics who think Rogue One is much worse than the original Star Wars trilogy. Red Letter Media's new video review focuses on Gareth Edwards' standalone film, and using the parody persona Mr. Plinkett, they criticize the film for its low emotional stakes, lack of memorable characters, and uninspired story.

I agree with what they said about the murky motivations of forgettable characters, but I don't agree with their point about the context of the film because you have to remember that t's a part of a larger franchise and not every story can be self-contained. And I don't think the characters lack emotion. It's clearly an emotional film but some characters lack personal motivations. What do you think about this video review?
