Warner Bros Offered To CGI In Henry Cavill's Moustache For Mission Impossible 6 At Their Expense; Paramount Declined

Henry Cavill's moustache was famously CGI'd out of Justice League, leading to a lot of fan backlash about how weird it looked in the final film; all this because of Cavill's weird contract with Paramount that he couldn't shave his moustache for Mission Impossible 6. As it turns out, Warner Bros offered to CGI in Cavill's moustache in MI6 at their expense, but Paramount refused.

A VFX artist on Justice League had hosted an AMA on Reddit, and when asked what his team's reaction was to digitally removing Cavill's moustache, he said it was:

"A mix - to some people it's a cool little project to get stuck in to and another problem to solve, which is what a lot of VFX is about. Challenging. To me, as a fan, I was annoyed haha Paramount should've shaved him and stuck a fake one on for MI6. Ridiculously petty of them. We did tests on already shot footage of Superman to add a beard as well to show the MI6 team at Paramount it was loads easier, and Warner Bros offered to pay for all the beard adding shots in MI6. They said no."

I'm sure a lot of DC fans are already mad at Paramount for downright being the reason Superman looks so weird in the film, and I don't know if they're going to have some PR done to rectify the situation. I have a feeling Cavill's moustache in the movie is going to be a huge meme when the first trailer for MI6 comes out.

For now, we'll just have to settle with Superman looking like he does in the movie, but hopefully this could be avoided in the next Superman solo film.

Catch Justice League in theaters now.
