Transformers Star Is Relieved He Didn’t Get Han Solo Role

Star Wars fans already know that Hail Caesar! star Alden Ehrenriech is playing the iconic role of the Han Solo, the franchise's rough-talking smuggler. However, Lucasfilm used to consider a lot of other stars for the role this includes Transformers: Age of Extinction's Jack Reynor , a young Irish actor who's won a couple of awards acting in What Richard Did and Glassland.

Fans might expect that getting turned down for the role might have been unfortunate for Reynor, however an interview with The Irish Times (via ScreenCrush) reveals that the actor couldn't be any more relieved.

"That Han Solo movie is going to be really tough. I think the guy who is doing it is a really good actor, but, for myself, I was afraid of it. I kept thinking: if you f --- this up you'll ruin people's childhoods. If it doesn't turn out great, you won't be forgiven. That's a lot of responsibility. And even if it goes great, you'll do it, people will know you only from that and that defines your career. That would be very difficult."

Reynor's right, Harrison Ford is a legend and Han Solo's boots are large shoes to fill – Ehrenriech is probably doing all that he can to stay true to Han's rough, sarcastic demeanor yet at the same time, do his best to put a little of himself into the character. It's a difficult balancing act that we hope Ehrenriech can maintain.

The untitled Han Solo movie is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.
