Anyone who has seen Avengers: Endgame knows that Tony Stark drops his iconic line before snapping Thanos and his army away. However, it turns out that there were a few alternative and NSFW messages for the Mad Titan before he settled for "I am Iron Man."
Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were recently guests on the Empire Film podcast where they revealed an interesting fact about Tony's epic mic drop. The screenwriters admitted that they had several ideas of what Tony's response would be to Thanos, including a few that would make Steve Rogers blush.
"I think there was f--k you at one point. Didn't he say f--k off? He may have said it…you do a lot of takes. Like can we really end all this on a complete swear? On a 'kiss my ass, Thanos'," they said.
It's not difficult to imagine Robert Downey Jr. having fun with all of these lines. Although any of these NSFW options may have been awesome and hilarious at the same time, it seems like "I am Iron Man" is still the best one considering how emotional things got right after the snap.
We wouldn't be surprised if Downey had once again adlibbed the line in Endgame. After all, he actually came up with the idea of Tony saying the same thing at the end of the first Iron Man film. Nevertheless, Tony's last words were perfect as it is and we wouldn't change it in any way.
