Thor: Ragnarok Director Has A Funny Congratulatory Message For The Oscar Nominees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for this year's Oscars, and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has a hilarious post congratulating the various films and individual's nominated for the Academy Awards.

Taking to Twitter, the filmmaker went on to congratulate the people behind The Big Sick, Get Out, Baby Driver and The Shape of Water, all the while jokingly taking credit for their success.

"Congrats to @kumailn @emilyvgordon @JordanPeele @edgarwright @RealGDT and all the other @_________'s on your Oscar nomnoms! Very proud to be your mentor and inspiration and basically the unacknowledged reason for all your success! Go us! We did this!"

It's a pretty funny tweet, knowing how Thor: Ragnarok failed to receive any recognition from the Academy. Like Wonder Woman, Waititi's Thor standalone movie was snubbed by the Oscars despite its critical and commercial success. A lot of fans and critics expected the DCEU film to earn a few nominations from the Oscars because of the impact it made on the film industry, and its nomination for the Best Picture award by the Producers Guild of America seemed like a pretty good indicator that it would be included in this year's Academy Awards list.

Logan was the only comic book movie to receive a nomination for the Academy, receiving a nod for Best Adapted Screen Play. Guess that the Academy still isn't that fond of the comic book movie genre.

Thor: Ragnarok's Blu-Ray and DVD debuts on March 6, 2018.
