There's A New Wave of Chinese Magic: The Gathering Counterfeits Coming

Nowadays, you can get some fake Magic: The Gathering cards online that look so real that it's hard to distinguish them from the original ones without touching them. Light test? Bend test? Forget those. Some Chinese counterfeiters have found a way to print fakes that pass those tests. As Rudy of Alpha Investments shows in his video, there's a new wave of counterfeits from China that could fool an average person if you sleeve it up in a Magic tournament. Watch the video below:

Rudy points out that older cards like the Power 9s, cards from Alpha and Beta, are easier to spot but newer cards like Tarmogoyf, fetchlands, Snapcaster Mage, and other Modern staples look so similar, you can probably get away with it if you used it in a tournament. At the 7-minute mark, you can see that the take Scalding Tarn looks just like the real one. Of course, their textures are still easy to tell apart but it's scary how some Chinese counterfeiters are figuring out ways to make legit-looking cards.
