The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Perfect as Negan

It's still pretty early to say if Jeffrey Dean Morgan has nailed the terror bully in the upcoming season of The Walking Dead.

We've seen how he looks. That swagger. That devilish smile. That drawl. That slick look. That bat. Everything basically screams Negan from the comics. But the short scene that we saw of him may not be enough for some viewers.

Apparently, that's not what The Walking Dead's own Andrew Lincoln things. Lincoln, who plays the role of Rick Grimes, revealed that Morgan has done a stellar job in portraying Negan.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lincoln revealed that the audience have only seen a taste of what Morgan can do with the role.

"He's such an important part of the show, this character, that we needed an actor that could step up and take the bull by the horns and drag it forward, and make it his own. And certainly, that's what we have this season."

Previously, we also heard from Morgan that how he depicted Negan wasn't exactly by the book, but rather a little bit of both. Lincoln said that this is actually what gives flavor to the portrayal.

He even dubs Negan as the "baddest of bad guys," proving once and for all that we're about to see something far worse than what The Governor delivered. And that's both exciting and kind of scary to imagine.

"I think it's breathed a new terrifying life into the show, and at no better time. What an extraordinary thing, to wait seven seasons to reveal the baddest of the bad guys."

That's certainly one way of putting it. But what rings from this statement is really how the world of our characters will literally change. We obviously can't wait for that premiere episode—even if it's something we might want to un-see, but can't.

The Walking Dead will be back on Oct. 23 on AMC.
