AMC has just released a new batch of bloody portraits for 13 of its characters. And if we look closely enough, we might find some clues on the possible futures and fates in store for the second half of The Walking Dead's season 7.
Of course, this is purely speculation on our end, but some of the blood streaks and smears are very suggestive of the character's fates. Case in point: Rick's bloody portrait. We see a side-view shot of him holding a gun in his right hand. But the blood can be seen smearing his arm.
I know there hasn't been a lot of talk about Rick losing his hand as he did in The Walking Dead comics, but is this teaser suggesting that possibility for the latter half of season 7?
There are other bits for speculation. Aaron's portrait shows a blood smear on his leg. In the comics, he is alive and well, despite losing Eric. However, there is one other character who loses a leg during the war against the Saviors: Heath.
From the way the first half of the seventh season ended, no one really knows where Heath is or if he is alive. So does this mean that the losing-a-leg fate will now be bestowed on Aaron instead?
Additionally, we have Morgan, whose portrait appears to be a broken image of himself. Does this symbolize the struggle that he's going through as far as his morals and attitude about walkers and life go? He'll certainly be tested, what with the brewing war coming up.
Carol also looks like she'll be back kicking zombie ass, if the knife in her hand—bloodied by the smears—is any indication. Father Gabriel also earns his own bloody portrait, but the blood smears are on his hands.
Of course, there are other portraits wherein the blood smears just appear random. Unless Carl or Tara will be split open in half. So temper your expectations and speculations.
The Walking Dead will be back on AMC on Feb. 13.
