James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will see the return of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang along with the big-screen debut of zany villains such as Polka-Dot Man, Bloodsport, amongst many others. It's clear that DC didn't stop Gunn from using any characters in The Suicide Squad, but there's one bizarre character that the director decided not to use on his own.

Gunn recently took to Twitter to reveal that he considered "many more well-known" heroes and outlaws for the film. This prompted a fan to ask the director if there were any "D-list" characters he decided not to use, specifically Dogwelder. "Dog Welder was considered of course," Gunn wrote. "But, you know, being an animal lover, I'm not sure it's something I'd personally want to see expressed cinematically." You can check out his post below.

While there's no doubt that The Suicide Squad will feature some elements of violence, Gunn had a pretty good reason not to include the Dogwelder in the film, considering that it might make things a little too dark than intended. That said, there will be plenty of other characters to look forward to, especially those who have yet to make their live-action debuts.

Created by Garth Ennis, John McCrea, and Steve Dillon, Dogwelder is a DC "superhero" who basically welds dogs to people's faces. The character first appeared in 1997's Hitman #18 and is known as a member of Section 8. The original Dogwelder met his tragic fate in 2000's Hitman #52 but a second iteration of the character was introduced in 2015's All-Star Section Eight #1.

The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6, 2021.
