The upcoming animated short The Spider Within A Spider-verse Story releases tomorrow, March 27, and Sony Pictures has just released a trailer for the Miles Morales short.
The Spider Within: A Spider-verse Story explores Miles' well-being and mental health as he grapples with his responsibilities.
The trailer gives a brief glimpse into what fans can expect from the latest addition to Sony's animated Spider-verse.
Miles will experience a panic attack in the short as he becomes overwhelmed by his life as both Spider-Man while keeping up his duties as a teenager, friend, and student.
The Spider Within A Spider-verse Story hopes to show that everybody is going through something, including superheroes like Miles, as explained in the YouTube video's description:
"After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil."
The description also tells us that the Kevin Love Fund has partnered with Sony Animation to bring us the short film, and it will be incorporated into the new mental health-focused lesson plan to raise awareness with the students there.
"Sony Pictures Animation has teamed up with the Kevin Love Fund to digitally release the animated short film, The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, that will be incorporated into the Kevin Love Fund’s new mental health focused lesson plan, “The Hero Within.” The lesson plan invites students to tell their own story through the lens of mental health awareness via an interactive curriculum including a creative storyboard activity."
Miles Morales is a firm Marvel fan-favourite having previously featured in the first two animated Spider-Man movies, Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse.
A third movie Beyond the Spider-Verse is in the works with work underway, but no concrete release date as of yet.
