The Secret Behind Leia’s Controversial Force Scene Revealed By Star Wars: The Last Jedi Comic

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a pretty contentious Star Wars installment and one of the most controversial scenes in the film was when Leia (Carrie Fisher) had her near-death-experience in the film and used the Force to launch herself back into the safety of the Resistance ship.

Now it looks like Star Wars: The Last Jedi #2 has given fans some new details about Leia's controversial Force scene in The Force Awakens sequel.

Written by Garry Whitta and drawn by artists Mike Spicer and Michael Walsh, the comic gives fans Leia's perspective on her death scene in the film, allowing us to look into her inner voice while she floats in space. In the coldness of the empty space around her, Leia asks herself whether this is finally the end for her, whether after a "lifetime spent fighting, resisting, surviving," that this is the end of the line for her.

The answer that Leia finds when she looks to Force for a glimpse of her fate? "The end? Like hell."

Leia's inner dialogue shows us just how sassy and spirited General Organa is, even in the face of death. It's definitely amazing to see Leia's mind still functioning even while being frozen in space – if not her mind, then at least her awareness in the Force.

Though this scene might seem pretty innocent to fans, this portion of The Last Jedi comic book shows us that it was Leia's will to live that saved her. As always, our princess is an amazing woman.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi #2 is now available from Marvel Comics.
